THURSDAYS, August 23 - October 11, 6:30 - 8:30 with Nicolin Haines
The objective of this course is to explore alternative methods of construction, while expressing meaning through abstraction and repetition. Students will begin by creating multiple press molds of small objects. We will then construct larger forms out of the press-molded pieces. Forms can resemble that of a vessel, display formal attributes relative to the object chosen for the mold, or be further abstracted. Through the making of these common objects and various approaches to construction, students will become acquainted with different aesthetics through which meaning can be expressed.
